Callala Public School

Our School

We are a dynamic school community that is committed to delivering rich, broad learning experiences in a nurturing environment, to enable our students to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens for the future.

Respect | Responsibility | Participation

Callala Public School supports the educational needs of 158 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, serving the communities of Currarong, Callala Bay, Callala Beach, and Myola. The school consists of 7 classes and provides excellent support to help students achieve success, including programs for high potential and gifted students. We foster an inclusive environment where every student is valued and cared for.

Our committed teaching staff brings a diverse range of experiences, interests, and skills that greatly benefit our students. They are dedicated to ongoing professional development to enhance their ability to effectively plan and deliver quality, differentiated instruction. English and mathematics are the primary focus areas for collaborative inquiry and collegial practice, ensuring our students excel in these essential subjects.

Callala Public School actively collaborates with the community to create a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and learning. The school improvement plan has been developed through extensive consultation and collaboration with staff, the P&C, and the local Aboriginal Education Consultation Group (AECG). Additionally, we are an active member of the Community of Schools (CoS), working closely with other schools to create more opportunities for students, teachers, and the community. Transition programs with local pre-schools also help to nurture and promote the values of public education.

Our school offers numerous opportunities for students to excel both academically and in extracurricular activities. This includes sports, PSSA representation, sailing and swimming programs, as well as cultural and performing arts initiatives, such as Wakakirri and the Year 6 "Rock On" band program.

Recent initiatives at our school include:

  • A STEAM room with a focus on technology
  • The Resilience Project
  • Collaborative inquiry to enhance teaching practices
  • Lunchtime clubs and activities
  • Our Mia Mia (specialist support)
  • An OK sensory space
  • The Rock and Water program
